As a young designer just getting into the field of web design, I’m finding out more and more as I go along that user experience is the key that we wrap our design around. To make something pretty is one thing but to make something functional and look good while doing it is something entirely different. In this video, which is short but to the point, Kelley McDonald explains how building your interactive media from the top of the pyramid down is not the way to go about and instead start at the base and go out. The part that I found most interesting was the issue of sub-pages and how by neglecting them, you are closing three quarters of the doors that allow people to access your site. You don’t know how someone will stumble upon your content so it has to be open from all sides.
